What we do in 4th grade:
LANGUAGE ARTS
In 4th grade, we'll be reading stories more deeply and making more connections to non-fiction texts. We group students for success by differentiating instruction during our Flex Reading time five (5) days a week. We may also choose to read several of the following novels: By the Great Horn Spoon, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Because of Winn Dixie and Shiloh.

HOMEWORK
There is nightly homework in fourth grade. Each student has an agenda in which the assignments are written. Their planner needs to be signed by a parent/guardian daily. Fourth Graders are expected to spend no more than an hour each night, Monday through Thursday. This hour includes 20 minutes of reading novels or other material which may be expected as well. Generally, assignments are given each night and are due the following day. Long-term projects are common, teachers will provide timelines to help with time management.
